Welcome! My business name may seem incredibly generic and bland for someone who claims to be artsy, and maybe it is. When I first started venturing down the rabbit hole that is the art world I felt like I needed something creative and catchy for my business name. I came up with some pretty weird names and aliases, but each one felt so strange and inauthentic. I also felt like it was important not to limit myself to one art medium, because I love to dabble in all artistic endeavors. So after much thought and unnecessary strife, I decided 'Artsy Sarah' accurately described exactly who I am and what I do.
I've loved art in all forms since I was small. As a little girl I enjoyed writing poems, drawing pictures and taking photographs. As I got older I started taking some art classes in school and found that it was an incredibly therapeutic escape from a world that was often filled with turmoil and sadness. For a long time, art simmered in the background as I finished up my college degree and worked full-time. Then one day, I felt the urge to revisit this repressed passion and away I went.
In 2019, I participated in an art showcase that was presented by RAW Artists, Inc. in Salt Lake City. I had never done anything like it before and I was absolutely terrified to have my art on display with me standing in front of it. Nevertheless, I prepped and prepared as much as I could and showed up with a false sense of confidence to display alongside my artistic vulnerabilities. I was surprised to find that I had a non-stop flow of people stopping to talk to me, asking me about my art and expressing their love for what I had to offer. It absolutely lit a fire inside of me and I knew I had to keep going forward with my artistic journey.
I am not a traditional artist in the sense that I do not have one form of art that I produce regularly to sell. Some have told me this is what makes me truly artsy and that my drive to play with and express myself in so many different ways actually makes me a true artist at heart. So, I've adopted that mentality and have recently accepted the title "Artist" into my lexicon. So come join me on this art journey and watch me play in a world of make believe and creativity. Most importantly, I hope you'll play along side me and embrace your own artsy self along the way. This world needs more artistic feelers and thinkers, and I hope that I can help inspire more generations of artsy humans who are looking to bring some beauty into this world.
Love and art, Sarah
